Let us take a moment to care for these young caregivers
From June 1 to 7 next, Mantelzorg Moerdijk, together with the municipality of Moerdijk, is putting in part-possibly-makers in the spotlight. These are children and young people who at home nét do that little bit extra. During this week, on June 3 at 3:30 p.m., Councilwoman Pauline Joosten will launch the revamped website Care Companion. A tool that helps detect risk of overburdening. Everyone is welcome for coffee and cake at Lindonk 153.
Fellow‑possibly‑creators: young people with superpowers
Some young people make something possible every day. They help, arrange, comfort and keep the family running. Often without anyone noticing. They make sure their little brother is ready for school. They help a parent who is sick or they provide peace at home while they themselves have a lot on their minds.
They do it because it is necessary. But that doesn't mean it's always easy. That's why Surplus is giving them extra attention, appreciation and, above all, a moment for themselves this week.
How to recognize a fellow‑possibly‑maker?
Not everyone tells you what is going on at home. Still, sometimes you can see something. For example, a young person who is often tired, has little time for sports or friends, carries a lot of responsibility or has concentration problems. Name of a staff member: “Do you see these kinds of signs? Then ask a question and keep it small. A question, a smile, a short conversation.
It doesn't have to be big to make a big difference.”
Attention to young family caregivers
Mantelzorg Moerdijk pays extra attention to young family caregivers this week. Many young people do not recognize themselves as caregivers. They do not want to feel different from other young people. Therefore, we focus on strengthening their network with clear information about informal care. Mantelzorg Moerdijk is sharing additional information this week through socials and the website www.mantezorgmoerdijk.nl. This is done together with MeerMoerdijk, so that as many young people and their environment as possible are reached. In addition, young people who see themselves as caregivers may come by for an ice cream voucher. You can register via www.mantelzorgmoerdijk.nl. Then they will receive a voucher for two Hemelse ice creams at Ice Cream Parlor Hemels in Zevenbergen. This promotion runs until June 30.
