More and more people (young and old) are caring for someone else. For example, caring for a parent, a loved one with a long-term illness or someone with a disability.
Informal care is provided voluntarily and is often combined with work, study, family and social life. This means that much is asked of the volunteer caregiver who can easily become overburdened. Surplus supports informal caregivers by offering information, advice, education, (practical) support, guidance and expertise promotion. It is also possible to call on a volunteer to take over the care for a while, giving the caregiver some time for himself.
