It can happen to anyone when the simplest things no longer go as naturally as they should. The impact of a chronic or life-threatening disease such as multiple sclerosis (MS), cancer, dementia, rheumatism, stroke or psychiatric illness on a person's life is often enormous.
Do you need practical or social support, but there is no one in your immediate vicinity who can offer this help? Then you can also appeal to Mantelzorg Moerdijk. A buddy can, for example, go shopping with you, accompany you to a medical specialist or regularly come for a chat. If your network is (or has become) limited, the buddy looks together with you at the possibilities to establish new contacts or to strengthen the existing ones.
Buddy Aid provides a valuable resource by connecting committed and trained buddies with people who need it for a while. A buddy provides support voluntarily and free of charge. In principle for one year, with a possible extension of another year.
Buddies are volunteers who regularly contact their buddy (client) after a successful introduction. They offer pleasant moments and social-emotional support to their buddy for whom illness, loneliness or memory problems play a major role.
A buddy may be requested for such things as the following support:
- Contact visit.
- Supervised outdoor activities.
- Supervised indoor activities.
- Support for group activities.
The buddy is registered and screened as a volunteer with Surplus.
He/she is supervised and trained by a coordinator. Want to know more or become a buddy yourself? Send an e-mail to mantelzorg.moerdijk@surplus.nl
