The Dementia and (N)u program helps family members understand and cope with dementia. Surplus is starting a training September 22 for family caregivers in the municipality of Moerdijk who are dealing with dementia. Also participate? More information and registration is available via the calendar on this website.
For several years, this training has been conducted with great success within our municipality. During up to ten meetings, participants discuss themes such as empathy for changing perceptions and behaviors, dealing with care, communication, regulation issues, safety and self-care. The psycho-education package is an initiative of IntoDmentia foundation, Expertise Center Dementia Flanders and Alzheimer Liga Vlaanderen. Participants experience recognition and support in these meetings. Return meetings are also organized after the training in which participants can continue to meet and learn from each other.
